Information

In this certificate program, participants are invited to bring a specific course to adapt to incorporate workflow learning. Participants will learn how to:

  • Apply the 5 proven ADAPT principles of instructional design to enable the extension of learning into the workflow.
  • Cost-justify blending workflow learning into current training offerings.
  • Implement workflow learning into current and future training initiatives.
  • Measure the impact of a blended training and workflow learning solution.

Organizations today are recognizing the need to extend learning into the workflow but often struggle to effectively cost-justify, design, and implement effective workflow learning, where employees actually learn while working This workshop is for you if you are looking for a practical set of principles to help you take advantage of the following workflow learning benefits:

  • Enable and sustain effective job performance. Reduce wasted work time related to work stoppage, unnecessary support costs, lengthy transaction costs, and delayed learning opportunities.
  • Amplify the productivity of new hires. Dramatically shrink the time it takes new hires to become fully productive in their jobs.
  • Accelerate ongoing skill growth. Extend learning into the workflow to unleash continuous performance improvement while working.
  • Adapt at the speed of change. Enable the workforce to instantly close their personal skill gaps while working.
  • Reduce operational risk. Mitigate against costly mistakes where the critical impact of failure is significant to catastrophic while allowing for safe failure with rapid recovery.

ADAPT is a set of proven instructional design principles that, when applied to traditional courses, extends the learning started in those courses into the workflow, where learners can continue learning while working at all 5 Moments of Need. This workshop employs all these principles. You will not only develop relevant work examples with a plan to justify and implement workflow learning in your own work environment, but you will also have access to resources that will help you continue to learn in your workflow.

What you will learn:

  • Discuss and Challenge: Participate in lively discussions on the challenges of conventional training and the potential of a performance-driven approach. Share your experiences and insights.
  • Apply to ADAPT: Participate in hands-on activities to gain tangible experience in applying the ADAPT principles
  • Explore: Evaluate Digital Coach solutions, integral to workflow learning, allowing you to interact with and understand the technology possibilities used to support the implementation of workflow learning.
  • Analyze and Brainstorm: Review case studies and real-world examples in small group sessions to collaborate and brainstorm on ways to implement workflow learning in your unique business environment.
  • Reflect and Plan: Take time to reflect on how you can implement what you are learning to your specific organization. Consider tools and guidance for creating a path-forward plan.

Topics Covered:

  • Discuss what workflow learning is and is not.
  • Analyze two case studies (soft skills and procedural skills).
  • Run the cost-justification numbers for your project.
  • Apply the first two principles of ADAPT.
  • Reflect, plan, and share.
  • Apply the final three ADAPT principles.
  • Analyze 5 organizational impact case studies.
  • Explore workflow learning options for moving forward.
  • Reflect and develop your personal workflow learning plan.
