802: The Secret Sauce of Emotionally Intelligent Leadership
Information
Most leaders believe they are self-aware, yet research shows that only 10% to 15% actually have good self-awareness (Eurich, 2018). Self-awareness is the foundational skill for emotionally intelligent leadership, so other EI skills crumble without its support.
Join this session to learn more about this "secret sauce" and the recipe for integrating it into your own leadership practices. As your EI skills increase, you'll see a productivity boost and higher satisfaction on your team.
We will combine lecture with various styles of interactivity, including poll questions, word clouds, and interactive discussions. We'll collaborate on a common definition of emotional intelligence, and I'll present research-based evidence on why self-awareness is the EI secret sauce. We'll examine information and examples showing its link to other EI skills and share a short video case study for group discussion and analysis. You'll leave this session with self-awareness self-check strategies and at least one SMART goal you've determined to implement post-conference.
In this session, you will learn:
- The reasons why one Emotional Intelligence (EI) skill serves as a foundation for all other EI skills
- How to integrate the foundational EI skill into your personal leadership style
- Specific, actionable strategies for using EI's "secret sauce" to be a more effective leader
- How to do periodic self-checks on your self-awareness level
